Benefits of CNCM♪ The CNCM curriculum builds harmonization, transposition, vocalization and improvisational skills right from Grade 1 – students become functional musicians
♪ Provides goals and motivation to reaching those goals ♪ Provides pride of accomplishment ♪ Builds confidence ♪ CNCM offers four streams of piano performance examinations – Star Performance (ideal for beginning students), Popular, full performance, workshop (see below) ♪ Coaching classes are great for students (especially adults) who would like to prepare a couple of pieces and have an informal discussion with an examiner ♪ Examinations are done in a recital format – students can share their achievements with family and friends ♪ Students can prepare a traditional or theme exam ♪ They can include popular music ♪ Students receive certificates for each examination completed ♪ Students develop good oral speaking skills, performance etiquette and creativity through the development of posters and programs ♪ Teacher can choose repertoire from any source (not restricted to a syllabus) – allows the teacher to tailor the curriculum to the students likes and interests ♪ Students will prepare an additional work – another piano solo no more than one grade lower, an ensemble work, vocal solo, work on a second instrument, original work ♪ Encore selection may be up to two grades lower and must be a piano solo |
